First established in 1989 through the vision and dedication of local resident Ross Rogers and his family, the museum has become a treasured custodian of the region’s military history. Its journey has not been without hardship - in April 2010, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake, the most powerful recorded in the area, severely damaged the museum. In the years that followed, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, alongside architects, contractors, RSLs, staff, and dedicated volunteers, worked tirelessly to restore and revitalise it. On 7 January 2019, the Goldfields War Museum proudly reopened in its new home inside the Boulder Town Hall.
Discover the unique and often overlooked role the Goldfields played in Australia’s wartime history — a story of courage, resilience, and community spirit.
